Build IT International’s technical advisor Malcolm Alcock describes Michael has ‘indispensable’ to the completion of the work at the Fiwila school project. As foreman, he leads by example working a tough 10 hour shift under a harsh sun. He manages a team of 6-8 labourers and community volunteers. All this at 73 years of age!

Michael is a carpenter, plumber and brick-layer and hasn’t lost his appetite to learn. He is now an expert in the new tile and brick making technologies introduced by the project.

“I have been working for over 51 years but I still like learning new skills”  he says. “I hope we can expand the buildings to enable more people to have an education in the future”

He has even offered to work anywhere in Zambia to help Build IT International on other projects. “I can work for another 10 years, I am still strong!”

Go for it Michael!
