Future Projects

Our 2012 programme, commencing in April,  is our most ambitious yet, with 5 projects being undertaken.

Through these projects over 60 men and women will join our training programme, taking their first steps towards becoming a builder.

Kaoma Orphanage – Replacement of an unstable orphanage for very young children.

The orphanage is home to more than 140 children, aged 6 weeks to 18 years.  One section of the orphanage is especially for the babies; many are HIV positive. The current building is unstable and prone to flooding. The new building will provide a home for over 25 babies. We are working with partner Alan Kerins Projects to deliver this project.

Kaoma Training Centre – A training centre in Kaoma for use by community groups.

The centre will be used by students to undertake leadership skills and will help provide added daycare space for the orphanage. Community groups will also have access to the new centre. The project is being built through partnership with Alan Kerins Projects.

Shipungu Community School – New primary community school in the Kapiri District

We are working with local communities in Shipungu to build a new three classroom block.  The current school building is cramped and inadequate, making a very difficult learning environment. The school is run solely by the local community, but will receive additional support from government once complete.

Twapia Secondary School Phase 2 – Second phase of major Secondary School  (first phase complete January 2012).

With the second phase of this project starting in early 2012, more work will expand capacity towards the 1,000 target. This will include up to 6 more classrooms, a further dormitory and other facilities. The project will benefit thousands of children over the years. The school will be run by specialist education charity PEAS.

Kawama Secondary School – First phase of new Secondary School

This new secondary school is in an area where there is currently no secondary education. 75% of the population in Kawama are children, with over 1 in 5 orphans. The first phase of building work will include five classrooms and a dormitory. The secondary school is close to the primary school we built in 2010 and will be run by specialist education charity PEAS.
