Governance

In the UK, Build It International is a registered charity (No. 1115989) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (No 5495358) with its office in Shrewsbury. In Zambia Build It International is registered as an international NGO, (ref. ORS 102/35/3736) with an office in Lusaka. We are a not-for-profit organisation.

One of the most important volunteer roles at Build it is that of Board members or Trustees.  They are responsible for developing policy and strategy, monitoring programme implementation, legal compliance and supporting the Chief Executive. Build It’s establishment and progress since 2006 has been built on the foundation of good governance.

Build It also benefits from pro bono advice from a range of relevant experts.

UK Board of Trustees

Peter Caldwell, Chair and founding Board Member.

Peter was the Managing director of Mostyn Estates and previously managed the Zambian Consolidated Copper mine estates.

Robin Spencer, Treasurer.

Robin is an Engineer by training. He has 30 years expertise of presenting market strategy recommendations to Senior Managament Teams in a wide range of industry sectors across 40 countries including Africa.

Dr. Andrew Sentance CBE, Deputy Chair.

Andrew is a Senior Economic Advisor at PwC. He was an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England from October 2006 to May 2011. Prior to that he worked for British Airways and the London Business School.

Sir Ross Cranston, founding board member.

Sir Ross is a High Court judge. Previously he was Centennial Professor of Law at the LSE, a practising barrister,  Labour MP for Dudley North (1997-2005) and Solicitor General (1998-2011).

Liz Mayhew, trustee

Liz became a trustee in 2012. Following a successful career in corporate lending and managing her own international relocation business, Liz is now pursing her charitable interests.

Zambia Board of Trustees

Rueben Lifuka, Chair.

Rueben is a Architect and Project Manager by profession, and a graduate of the Copperbelt University of Zambia. He is the President of Transparency International Zambia and a member of The Technical Committee on Drafting the Zambia Constitution.

Elisha Ng'onomo.

Elisha is a DIrector of local NGO, Village Water, and has a Masters in Development Studies and a first degree in rural development. Elisha has 15+ years experience managing programmes in Zambia.

Maria Nkunika.

Maria is a retired HR professional with a vast experience of development projects working for local NGOs.

Francis Mwape.

Francis is a Construction Engineer. Currently he is the  Principal of the National Council for Construction Training School in Zambia.

Sue Mwaanza, Treasurer.

Sue is ACCA qualified accountant. She is a Managing partner of PAXCO, a firm of chartered accountants. On the board of Zambia Revenue Authority and a senior figure in the Zambian Institute of Chartered accountants.
