Makangwe Community School is now completed and the new school building has officially been opened.
Building work at Makangwe Community School was completed on the 4 January. The two new classrooms for this rural community school 25km south of Lusaka, have created an additional 90 places at the school, which currently has over 260 children enrolled.
Our unique hexagonal ‘Cool School’ design was used including a large connecting office with observation windows. Design improvements on previous versions including higher windows and a strong room for exam papers.
An official opening ceremony took place on the 15 February by the Area MP, Bradford and funders The Ellis Campbell Foundation.
The celebrations were attended by all fifteen trainees who completed their training on the project. They have all taken their trades test results are awaited. The trainees joined fellow trainees from Chainda Community School to entertain the crowds with a dramatic performance!
The new school building has lead to increased support from the Ministry of Education. They have confirmed a donation of 20 desks and are considering allocating two additional qualified teachers.
