Build It UK

Andrew Jowett, Chief Executive
Andrew founded Build It International in 2006 and has been Director of the Charity ever since. Previously, Andrew has run programmes for Save the Children and was Director at Harvest Help (now Self Help Africa). After gaining 20 years' experience of development work in Latin America and Africa, Andrew saw the great need for quality infrastructure and skills development in sub-Saharan Africa.

 
John Hindson FCMA, BA (Hons), Head of Finance and Administration
John joined us in May 2008 following a successful career in the commercial sector, with over 30 years experience in accountancy and financial management. John is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts and leads the Finance and Administration team here at Build It International.

 
Richard Drinkwater, Corporate Fundraising
Richard joined the team in July 2008 as part of the fundraising team and has a wealth of experience in the private and commercial sectors. Richard works part time and focuses on fundraising from grant making trusts and foundations.
 

Nina Davies, Fundraiser

Nina joined the Build It International team in August 2012. She focuses on fundraising from grant-making trusts and foundations. She has worked in a variety of roles in the international development sector from a year long placement in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia to development education with community groups in Shropshire.
 
Adam Pahal, Communications and Information Officer
Adam joined Build It International in November 2011, having worked in communications in social housing and the music industry. Adam supports the fundraising team by updating and maintaining Build It International's website and social media.

 
Kaye Chambers, Team Administrator
Kaye joined the team in January 2012, having done some temporary work for Buid It International in the past. She has a variety of experience from roles in the commercial sector, voluntary work and running her own business. She primarily works in the finance team and also gets involved in fundraising support.

 
Liz Elston Mayhew, Fundraising Advisory Board & Trustee
Liz joined Build It in September 2011. Following a successful career in corporate lending and managing her own international relocation business, Liz is now pursuing her charitable interests. Working from London, Liz supports the fundraising team on a part time voluntary basis.

Build It Zambia

Colleen Yuen, Zambia Programme Director
Colleen joined Build It in March 2012 after leading a  team of designers and built environment professionals for UK charity Article 25. Colleen has managed projects in Haiti, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Sri Lanka. Colleen is a qualified architect with extensive experience in school design and participatory planning.

 
Yvonne Kwalombota, Zambia Finance Manager
Yvonne joined the team in January 2011 and has nine years experience, mainly with NGOs, and is ACCA part-qualified. Yvonne manages accounts within Zambia and is part of the Finance and Administration Team.

 
Albert Lungu, Project Manager

Albert joined Build It International in 2012 and is a qualified Project Manager and has a Bachelor degree in Architecture from Copperbelt University. Albert is responsible for managing direct delivery of Build It International projects – which includes managing and directing contractors.


 

Alice Kamunema,  Construction Programme Manager

Alice joined Build It in 2012, following 15 years as a contracts manager. Alice is a working mother, her role is to ensure the successful delivery of all our building projects. This involves working closely with communities, project partners, contractors and our trainees. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building and is studying for a Masters in International Construction Management.
