A new report published by Build It reviews our approach to sustainable building and provides recommendations on the way forwards.
Both Aaron Musukumu (pictured left) and Chola Mwewa (pictured right) struggled to find work when they left school. After signing up as a building trainees at our Kawama School project, the two friends passed their trades tests with flying colours.
Since then, both Aaron and Chola were employed to oversee block and tile production at another Build It project in Chainda, as well as undertaking small building jobs themselves
That wasn't the end of their story either, as both friends have also been contracted to oversee block and tile production again, this time at Chibolya Community School. Now the pair are being paid for every single interlocking block they produce - sharing the money earned evenly. Congratulations to both!
Our work has helped to change Aaron and Chola's lives and they are both well on their way to becoming a builders.
