Support from Happold Foundation continues building brighter futures
Build It is delighted to have been awarded an organisational grant from The Happold Foundation to continue building brighter futures in Zambia.
Build It, and Renewable World, will each receive £30,000 funding per year for three years. The two organisations were selected from 33 applications received from around the world.
The Happold Foundation is a charity dedicated to using engineering skills and experience to make a positive impact on people’s lives. They work with young people, educators and researchers to shape a community who want to improve the built environment.
The Happold Foundation organisational grant looks to support organisations working in areas of human development and the built environment, particularly those whose approach address inequality and exclusion.
Build It CEO Andrew Jowett commented, “Everyone at Build It is thrilled with this generous new grant from the Happold Foundation, building on the collaboration we have enjoyed over the past four years.
It will enable us to further invest in our capacity to deliver quality construction skills training in Zambia alongside investment in much needed community schools and health facilities. Thank-you!”
Feedback received highlighted that the judging panel were impressed by our work – particularly our focus on gender, on using construction skills as a method to improve livelihoods and fight poverty, and our monitoring and evaluation of our work. The panel felt that that we demonstrated a clear and focused plan for the future.
