Training paused at the Centre for Excellence

Training at our Centre for Excellence in Lusaka was put on hold from Friday 20 March 2020, in line with the Government directive for educational institutions. We are keeping in contact with the 60 trainees learning through the centre and look forward to welcoming them back as soon as possible.
It means we have also had to stop training the 20 trainees who were learning with us on the construction of the new office at the centre. As this build currently continues, the trainees will be moved across to another training programme when they rejoin us.
Training continues at Katombora Reform School in Livingstone, which comes under the direction of Ministry of Home Affairs, and not the Ministry of Education. New entry-level courses in Brick/Block laying and Rough Carpentry started in March and will conclude in May.

We are keen to keep in touch with our 2020 trainees during this difficult time to help maintain their motivation and commitment.
We have established Trainee WhatsApp groups and are using our Trainee and Graduate Facebook page to keep in touch. We are looking into how we can use opportunities around online learning to teach some of the theory elements of our course. Our Training Team is preparing to pilot short demonstration videos that we can post online.
We do not know how long schools and learning institutions will be closed for, but everything is in place to restart our training programme as soon as we are allowed, and we look forward to welcoming back Stephen and the rest of our 2020 trainees.
Many of our young trainees have already faced many challenges in life. Our training is a chance to build themselves a brighter future – we want to hold true to our promise of this opportunity.
