Safe Hands workshop for local schools
17 September 2020.
We recently arranged a one-day workshop for teachers and school administrators on preventing the spread of COVID19.
Facilitated by Mrs Winfridah W Mulenga (Senior Health Promotions Officer, Ministry of Health HQ) and Dr Kinkungwe Laila (University Teaching Hospital), the workshop aimed to support schools with accurate messages, action plans and safe practices.
Fact sheets, brochures and posters in Nyanja, Tonga and English were distributed to everyone participating to take back to their schools.
Kachingwe Rose, Head Teacher Muwanjuni Primary School wanted to share a few words with us:
“We have just finished attending a workshop – we’ve really enjoyed, we have learnt a lot. This information shall be extended to the other teachers and the learners and we shall never be the same. God bless you, thank you so much.”
Clarity around prevention of COVID19 is particularly pertinent as schools start welcoming back all their pupils this month.
The pandemic has brought unprecedented disruption to the education of so many children and young people. Schools in Zambia reopened in June to children in examination Grades 7 and 9, but for many children their education has been on hold since March.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the workshop.
We continue raising funds for our Safe Hands appeal to keep children safe as they return to school.
