As part of our commitment to creating safe spaces, we continue to strengthen safeguarding practices across our work.

On 21 November, Build It’s Zambia team gathered for an intensive safeguarding workshop. The session aimed to deepen understanding in this vital area and equip colleagues with the necessary tools to effectively implement policies.

The training reflects Build Its’ ongoing commitment to integrate safety and protection into every facet of our work, ensuring the well-being of our trainees, partners and communities we work with.

Build It Country Director Chilufya Kasutu reaffirmed the organisation’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse: 

“Our new policy further strengthens safeguarding at the heart of our work, especially as we focus on empowering women in the construction sector,” Chilufya emphasised.

Build It’s Safeguarding Policy has recently been revised with latest international and national frameworks. 

Praise Luwaile, Build It Safeguarding Lead, emphasised the importance of ongoing learning in safeguarding: “This is not a one-time effort. Safeguarding requires continuous understanding and reference to our policy to effectively navigate complex situations,” Praise stated.

The training also served to highlight the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – a global campaign to end violence against women and girls running from 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, through to 10 December, Human Rights Day.
