Building futures: Celebrations at Mwachisompola Primary School

We were thrilled to celebrate the official handover of new classrooms and latrine blocks at Mwachisompola Primary School. This achievement marks a new chapter for students and staff at this busy rural school just north of Lusaka.

The ceremony was full of joy, showcasing the teamwork and dedication that made this project happen. We were delighted to be joined by pupils, parents, teachers, community leaders, and education representatives.

We welcomed back our young trainees for their official graduation. They learnt their new skills building these facilities. Their pride reflects the pride of the whole community.

These latest developments are a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Mwachisompola community to the education of their children.

The journey began in 2004 with the establishment of a community school. This was upgraded to a Government school in 2012. Despite limited resources, the community built a three-classroom block and persuaded the Ministry of Education to send qualified teachers to the school.

However the children have faced overcrowded classrooms and inadequate sanitation facilities as pupil enrolment has grown. These conditions often hindered their ability to focus on their studies and enjoy a positive school environment.

With the generous support of donors and the invaluable contributions of the community, we embarked on the construction of four new classrooms, a pupil latrine block, and a teacher latrine block.

The new classrooms are spacious and well-ventilated, promoting a comfortable learning atmosphere.

The completion of the new classrooms at our school has brought happiness; to both staff and the community. The increased learning space will help accommodate growing population of learners in the community and allow us to manage time and learning sessions more effectively.

We are deeply grateful to the funders for this remarkable contribution and encourage them to continue their commendable efforts. We feel privileged to have been chosen among the many schools in the Chibombo District.

The new latrines offer more hygienic sanitation facilities. This is crucial for the health and dignity of all students, but especially for girls who often miss school due to the lack of appropriate facilities during their periods.

We extend our deepest appreciation to everyone who contributed to this project.

Together we are #BuildingBrighterFutures for more young people in Zambia.
