We are delighted to reach an exciting milestone with our 100th group of young people embarking on a journey of transformation!

27 trainees are undertaking our entry-level Rough Carpentry and Steel Fixing course, and the chance to build themselves a brighter future. Our training supports young people with life-skills, practical training and work placements. So far we have trained almost 1,800 young people, approximately 25% women, opening up new opportunities for them to work and thrive.

Skills development helps create sustainable livelihoods for young people like David Mukata: 

19-year old trainee Ireen Mwamba is one of six females on the course:

“I had just completed my secondary education, but my parents didn’t have the money to pay for college right away, so I applied to Build It to gain a skill in rough carpentry. I have always had an interest in carpentry, especially ceiling board designs, and I wanted to learn more about it. After acquiring this skill, I will be able to find work in different projects. I want to upgrade my education by taking myself to college, and to help out my family.”

These young people go forward to construct not only buildings but also their own futures, becoming architects of their own destinies!
