Kawama secondary school, Ndola opened early February, much to the joy of the 360 pupils who now have access to further education.
Kawama is a poor, high-density urban compound on the edge of Ndola, a mining town on the Zambian Copperbelt. Kawama was desperately in need of a Secondary School as there was no further education provision for the 7,000 residents, of which 75% are children.

Build It began work on Phase one of the project in 2012. Phase two is now almost complete, the two 1×3 classroom blocks are open and the latrine and kitchen have also been completed. Work continues on staff housing, which will be completed soon.

The school is the second in our partnership with PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) who will run and manage the school.

The secondary school was Build Itโs second school in Kawama, in 2010 we built a community school. Children can now complete their primary and secondary education in Kawama at schools constructed by Build It.
