Graduation celebrations

We recently celebrated the graduation of some of 2018 trainees at our Centre for Excellence.

It was a great opportunity to celebrate their hard-work and commitment, as well as catching up to see what they have been up to since completing their training. Our 2019 Impact Study showed that graduates from the first two bricklaying courses of 2018 increased their average income from ZK311/month to ZK1120/month within a year, with some earning considerably more which is fantastic news.

We are delighted that we are able to hold these events at our very own Centre for Excellence. The centre has become a focal point of our training, helping us in our aim to increase the number of individuals trained by 500% by 2021.

It was great to catch up with Ruth Kampangele, one of our community trainees from 2016, who came along to the event.

Ruth now works as a supervisor for a construction company, as well as doing private tiling jobs.

Ruth said, ‘At first it was about earning some money, but I love it so much now! I feel like I belong in the world of construction!’ Ruth begins her university studies in Construction Management in September!

It was great to have Ruth at the event to talk to some of our latest female graduates. We know that our female trainees and graduates face more challenges in construction than their male counterparts. This year we will be creating a training programme specifically designed for our female trainees. We can’t wait to share more with you as this progresses.
