Libuyu Health Clinic

We are delighted to announce that work is beginning in May on the new maternity ward at Libuyu Health Clinic.

The health centre is in a heavily populated, disadvantaged community on the outskirts of Livingstone. Current facilities means the clinic is struggling to cope with providing maternal and child health, as well as TB screening, HIV support, lab testing and family planning to around 2,000 patients per month.

Thanks to your support, we are building a new Maternity and Infant Health Unit at Libuyu.

There will be a new antenatal unit plus a post-natal ward, with more beds and more privacy.

A new delivery room will increase capacity and safety. There will be a separate waiting area, and connection to mains electricity will make a significant improvement.

Our construction projects are driven by the local community to ensure that the buildings work for them. Based on a bespoke design, the new unit will be a single storey building.

It will be built as a separate unit, with space and privacy away from the existing clinic reception area. This high quality building will have a life expectancy of at least 30+ years.

We look forward to sharing photos as work begins.

We continue fundraising for the second part of this project, to make improvements to the existing clinic which is struggling to cope with increasing demands. If you would like to find out more about how you can help build brighter futures at Libuyu, please do get in touch.
