We are delighted to have successfully piloted our new Maintenance short-course which we have launched into the commercial construction sector.
The course builds on our extensive experience of providing maintenance advice at our community build projects. We have transformed this service into a comprehensive and bespoke five-day Maintenance course.
From our experience working in the built environment in Zambia, we know that building maintenance is often overlooked. However building maintenance is hugely cost-effective.
Routine care, regular surveys and minor repairs can save both time and money in the long run. It ensures the safety and comfort of the people using the building. It is key in helping to preserve the building’s value and functionality for the future.
Our pilot course ran from 16 – 23 Oct 2023, with five participants from contractors Cretech Construction and McCoys Building Solutions. These two companies have been actively supporting our trainees and graduates with placements and employment opportunities, recognising the value and potential of skills training.
The course was held on site at Emerald Hill by Africa Panorama Housing (McCoys Building Solutions site). This provided the opportunity for both theoretical learning and practical application. Topics covered included external render and roof repair, glazing replacement, drain and gulley maintenance, and basic electrical repair and fittings replacement.
