I have recently started my placement year at Build It and so far I am loving it! I am at the University of Bath studying Politics with International Relations, so I thought a placement year at Build It would be a great way to spend a year in industry.
One of the reasons I decided to study a degree in Politics was because I loved the idea of doing something which could lead me on a path to help others, and this is the guiding value for Build It.
At university I chose to study a number of International Development modules, which I always found very interesting and inspired me to look at the charity sector for a placement job.
My first few weeks at Build It have been really enjoyable, everyone in the office has been incredibly welcoming and gone out of their way to make me feel at home. So far I have had a variety of tasks and jobs to do, varying in size and significance.
I have particularly enjoyed attending meetings, and my favourite independent task has been writing out an application form for potential new donors. By undertaking this task I have been able to develop a more specific understanding of the new projects the charity is embarking on whilst trying to convey my passion for the charity to succeed in its fundraising. I am looking forward to learning more and experiencing more of the workings of Build It!
