The final wing of the girl’s dormitory at George Secondary School has shot up since work began last month.

The wing is an extension to the dormitory that was built in 2011, during phase I of construction.

The extension will create a further 46 places for girls at the successful new secondary school in Ndola.

Six new trainees have been busy building the new wing. After a tough selection process two female and four male trainees were chosen from 24 applicants.

Our Training Manager, Justus Katungulu, will be keeping a close eye on the new trainees and will guide them through our Training into Work programme.
[divider]
During their time as trainees the group will learn both practical and theoretical building skills, including: how to mark out a work site, how to lay foundations, health and safety, how to lay blocks and plastering.

The school is owned and managed by our project partners, UK charity PEAS. George School opened in January 2012 with 250 places. It provides a high quality secondary education in a poor area of Ndola with a population of 30,000.
