Christmas Challenge completed!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made a donation to Build It through the Big Give #ChristmasChallenge21. The campaign saw donations doubled between 30 November 2021 and 7 December 2021.

You helped to raise £33,291 (including Gift Aid) – an incredible amount which will go towards our community build project at Zambezi Sawmills Community School in Livingstone.

Community schools support some of the most vulnerable children in Zambia. Under the dynamic leadership of Headteacher Mrs Belita Tembo Zulu, Zambezi School is determined to respond to the overwhelming increase in the number of pupils, like 12-year old Florence who wants to be an accountant.

Currently the classrooms are desperately overcrowded. The children are already learning in shifts to help support as many as possible. The school is situated in a densely populated area of Livingstone, where many families live in poverty. Their daily struggles are now compounded by the impact of the pandemic.

With your help we will build three new classrooms to ease overcrowding and position the school to offer secondary education. A fourth classroom will be a new secure computer room, and help the children keep up in today’s digital work.

We will also build a latrine block to improve the children’s health. This will also encourage more girls to stay in education as they get older.

Learning is the key to prosperity. It benefits everyone and should be available to all.

Thank you for your support – together we continue building brighter futures in Zambia.
