Getting ready for International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021 celebrates the achievements of women, and calls to accelerate gender parity.

This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge.

We can all choose to challenge gender inequality, choose to celebrate women’s achievements. From challenge comes change. Raise your hand high to show you’re in.

Build It works in the construction sector in Zambia – a traditionally male dominated industry where women are significantly under-represented. We have a strong track record of recruiting women onto our training courses. We already ensure that at least 20% of our trainees each year are women.

In 2020, 33% of the young people going through our training courses at the Centre for Excellence were women. But we want to take this further to get to 50%.

So join our trainees Misozi, Nelly and Chileshe in raising your hand, and #ChooseToChallenge on International Women’s Day.
