International Women’s Day

This week we celebrated International Women’s Day – a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Women like Enelesi who thanks to your support, and her hard work and determination, is now a builder.

MORE THAN JUST A JOB, IT MEANS A NEW FUTURE

“My name is Enelesi and I am 23 years old. I had to finish school when I was 11 years old due to some financial hardships my parents had.

The main reason I joined the training programme at Bissell School was to empower myself career-wise.

I have found the training very interesting, I had never thought I could do any training in bricklaying in my life!

At first there was so much criticism from my friends in the community; that women can’t do such kind of training and especially when she is married. My husband encouraged me to pursue the training and I have not regretted the decision I took.

I believe the community will benefit very much from the building therefore I have promised myself to work hard so that even my children shall benefit from this project which I’m part of.”
