Jon, pictured above right, is an employee of the BGL Group, one of Build It’s corporate partners. Along with 19 of his colleagues, Jon is fundraising to help Build It provide a new school for the remote Kabaka community in Kapiri, Zambia.

The group will visit Kabaka in May and will see first-hand the positive impact the new classroom block, latrines, teachers’ housing and water supply will have on the community. The group will also spend time with members of the community, meeting pupils, teachers, parents and trainees who will benefit from the new facilities.

Jon stopped off at the Build It office on 17th April, for a well-deserved break (and a cup of tea and some cake!) from his 969 miles of cycling.

Build It’s Chief Executive, Andrew Jowett, joined Jon on his cycle from Craven Arms to our office in Shrewsbury.

Jon said: “I’m really looking forward to completing this challenge, if a little daunted, but have no doubt it will all be worthwhile once I reach the finishing post at John O’Groats! And when myself and 19 colleagues from BGL will visit Zambia to witness the impact the brand new school is having on the community.”
