Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. As a Build It fundraiser, Susie, found out, trekking 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) to its summit is a huge challenge…

Susie became aware of Build It through our work at Donata School, which is nearby to her brother’s farm in Mkushi, Zambia. She wanted to raise money to support Donata whilst taking on a new challenge.

The climb was tough, Susie battled through altitude sickness but heroically, she was determined to continue. Months of dedicated training and fundraising paid off and Susie successfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro in February.

To date she has raised over £2,600 for Donata’s School, a fantastic achievement!

“Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was, for me, a spiritual journey. I am a different person now from the one before I climbed. It was a journey made deeply richer by my decision to raise money for a great cause. I am a very lucky person to have had the experience”.
