2020 training begins

We want to build a future where more young people have the opportunity to learn, giving them the education and skills they need to work and thrive.

Our 2020 training calendar has started with 23 young people recruited for our first entry-level Brick and Blocking laying course. 17 men and 6 women will spend the next three months going through our bespoke curriculum at our Centre for Excellence.

Recruitment for entry-level Rough Carpentry course and entry-level Building Skills course are also underway.

This year we will also pilot a new course in Floor and Wall Tiling. Having a range of courses helps to better meet demand from the local construction sector, opening up more opportunities for our trainees for work placements and future employment.

Courses through the Centre for Excellence are now endorsed by international awarding organisation NOCN recognising the quality and standards being met.

As our 2020 training programme gets underway, we also continue engaging with others to invest in education and training to support young people and their aspirations.

We continue working with:

  • Employers to encourage and support them to invest in skills training (especially at entry-level) and create opportunities for disadvantaged young adults
  • Other skills training organisations to share what we have learnt and to continue improving training programmes
  • Regulatory organisations to increase access to training and qualifications to support more young people into work

Only by working in collaboration with others will we continue #BuildingBrighterFutures for young people and their communities.
