This Christmas you have the chance to double your impact! We’re raising funds for the construction of a new Maternity and Infant Health unit at Chisamba Rural Health Centre.
Between midday Tuesday 3 December and midday Tuesday 10 December 2024, every donation made through the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024 will be matched. This means your support will go twice as far in bringing safe, dignified healthcare to mums and babies in rural Zambia.
The centre serves as a lifeline for over 33,000 residents. But the centre’s current maternity and infant care facilities are insufficient and inadequate. This compromises the safety and dignity of women who give birth there, and also discourages many from seeking skilled care. Post-partum haemorrhage and sepsis are amongst the leading cause of maternal mortality in Zambia. It continues to claim lives, especially in rural areas like Chisamba.
We have started building a dedicated Maternity and Infant Health unit. This new bespoke facility will have expanded delivery room, dedicated pre and post-natal areas, plus bathrooms and laundry facilities to improve the level of hygiene.
Once complete, the facility will support up to 80 safe deliveries each month. It will also provide treatment and consultation space for critical follow-up care for children under-five, including vital vaccinations.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge enables your generosity to be matched for one week, amplifying the impact of your gift and helping us reach the finish line. Funds raised will go toward completing this life-changing facility with roofing materials, flooring, plumbing, electrics, and everything necessary to open the doors to a new future for mothers and children in Chisamba.
This Christmas be part of a transformative journey. Join us to build a healthier, safer tomorrow for families in rural Zambia.
Thank you.
