We were proud to champion gender diversity and inclusion at this year’s BuildZambia 2025 Expo and Awards Gala, held 23 – 25 September at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
The event was hosted by the National Council for Construction (NCC), and brought together key stakeholders and over 30 institutions under the theme “Building a Resilient Future: Innovation, Sustainability, and Inclusive Growth.”
Driving progress in Zambia’s built environment
The Expo was officially opened by the Honourable Minister of Infrastructure and Urban Development Mr Charles Milupi, who visited our exhibition stand and observed a live demonstration by our trainees:

Our Country Director Chilufya Kasutu delivered a keynote address, highlighting how innovation and inclusion can benefit everyone:
“This year’s theme captures the heart of us all as men and women in the built industry. It emphasizes the need to create long-lasting impact by embracing innovative building methods, environmentally responsible practices, and inclusive development that uplifts every member of society.”
Our team joined panel discussions on gender inclusion, skills development, social equity, and digital transformation in the built environment. These sessions provided valuable space for open dialogue and the exchange of experiences and insights.

Launching the ‘Build It With Her’ campaign
The Expo concluded with the Gala Dinner and Construction Industry Recognition Awards Ceremony – an inspiring celebration of excellence across Zambia’s construction sector.
It provided a meaningful setting for the launch our new media campaign “Build It with her.” Unveiled by our Board Chair Lucie Kasanga, the campaign calls for greater female participation in construction by breaking down the barriers that women often face in accessing training, mentorship and employment opportunities. Lucie said:
“Creating opportunities for women is not just the right thing to do – it is the smart thing to do. It tackles the skills shortage, strengthens businesses, and builds stronger communities… The sector cannot thrive without tapping into the full potential of all our people.”

Recognising champions of inclusion
We were honoured to sponsor and present two special award categories during the Awards Gala Dinner. These awards celebrated gender diversity and inclusive excellence in construction. Congratulations to:
- Women in Construction Training Champion Award: Fountain Gates Crafts (Lusaka Province), and Trade School and Nkumbi International College (Central Province)
- Gender-Responsive Contractor Award: McCoys Building Solutions
Congratulations to all the award winners

Looking ahead
BuildZambia 2025 showcased the power of partnership, strengthening our collaboration with NCC and other key stakeholders. By working together we can continue opening up opportunities to support more young men and women to work and thrive across the construction industry.
