Twenty trainees have laid the foundations of a new science laboratory which is generously funded by BGL group.
Linda Community School is in need of a science block, so that students can take part in practical science lessons. Without practical science lessons the school cannot register as a Grade 9 exam centre, making it very difficult for students to pass their exams.
We are working closely with the BGL Group, who are raising funds for the project, and the Linda community to provide construction skills training for 12 men and 8 women, have been selected from the community to receive construction skills training whilst they build the new science lab.
The trainees learn on site, from experienced trainers, and will earn a nationally recognised building certificate if they pass their exams. They will then receive on-going post training support to help them find a job, earn a living, develop a career and provide for their families.
Now that the foundations are laid, trainees can begin laying the brick walls of the new school laboratory.
