1 December 2020.
Work continues through our Safe Hands programme on the construction of permanent hand wash stations in local schools.
These new facilities enable more children to wash their hands at the same time. This will help the school to manage and integrate hand washing more frequently into their daily timetable.
At Naluyanda Community School we have trialled the design of a double hand wash station. This means 36 pupils will be able to wash their hands at the same time.
Concrete steps have also been added to enable easier filling of the water drum for schools like Naluyanda, who collect their water through a hand pump and borehole.
The design is working well, and the efficiency of the new design in terms of water utilisation is being monitored.
Our graduates test out the new facilities they have built for the children at Naluyanda
