All female contractor group to build teacher’s house at Kabaka

We are extremely proud that two of our former trainees, Emelda and Charity, have formed one of the few all female contractor groups in Zambia will build the teacher’s house at our project in Kabaka.

Kabaka Charity and Emelda

We are working hard to address the issue of gender equality for our trainees and our ‘Training into Work’ programme is helping female graduates develop a sustainable career in construction.

The Kabaka community have already taken the new building into their hearts by providing labour teams to help clear the site and work on block production. Build It staff members Albert and Chisomo have been impressed by their enthusiasm. The excavations for the main school building are now finished, showing the shape and scale of the new building.

Justus Katungulu, Build It’s training manager, has travelled to Kabaka to spend a week working with a group of potential new trainees. He will make his final selection soon and then work with his newly appointed team to ensure they are ready to start our training programme.

The new school at Kabaka will not only change the lives of the children who will attend the school, it will also have an impact on the wider comminuty too. We look forward to updating you on the progress of the project over the coming months.

This project has been generously funded by our corporate partner, BGL Group.
