Our 2014 graduate trainees have taken part in workshops to help them search, apply and secure an interview for a job in the construction industry.
As part of our wider Training into Work programme, we support our graduate trainees as they develop their new careers as builders.
The Finding a Job workshop is just one example of the support we offer. It is a one day training session run by Build It’s Training into Work manager, Justus. During the day, graduate trainees learn practical skills, including how to write a CV, how to search for a job and what to expect when attending an interview.
Many of Build It’s trainees have not worked in formal employment before so the workshop aims to introduce them to the process involved in searching for a job and provide them with the knowledge and confidence they need to successfully find, and secure, a job.
“The Finding a Job workshop has helped me to prepare myself every day in order to market myself and also connect with people that can value my new career.”
Gorshem, Lupuka Trainee
A total of 46 graduate trainees attended the workshop and were all eager to act on the new information given to them. They were given resources including CV templates and a cover letter to help them with job applications. The workshops concluded with a session of mock interviews, giving trainees almost ‘real life’ experience of what it is like to attend an interview.
“I used to imagine what would happen at an interview, but now am confident I can apply for a job and make it to the interview.”
Linda, Chibolya Trainee
We will keep you up to date on the progress of our trainees as they search for jobs.
