International Women’s Day 2020 #EachForEqual

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to accelerate gender equality.

Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive. An equal world is an enabled world; a world that can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious.

Together, each one of us can help create a gender-equal world. We can all choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.

Building a gender equal world

Currently around 20% of our construction trainees are women. This is encouraging but we know we can do more.

We know that women multiple the effects of investments made in their future, extending the benefits to the world around them.

We want to move towards a more gender balanced training programme, expanding our range of courses to maximise more opportunities for women.

We know that our female trainees face more barriers to employment than their male counterparts. We continue to build confidence in and support for our female trainees in the construction industry, working to ensure that women are accepted as equal builders to men.

On International Women’s Day, let’s all be #EachforEqual
