One block down… 17,499 to go!

The first block for the new Kabaka school has been produced. It will take over 17,500 blocks to build the new 3 classrooms, teacher’s house and latrines.

Kabaka 13.05.10 block Production (1024x680) (13)
The blocks will be produced by 10-15 new trainees who will soon be selected from the local community by Training into Work manager, Justus Katungulu, who is also a block making specialist.

James Shumba, a graduate trainee (pictured top right), will join Justus and supervise block production at Kabaka alongside new Build It Site Agent, Chisomo Nthanaga.

The community volunteers have really got behind the project and have now finished clearing and preparing the site.

They have also cleared road access to free up delivery of materials to the site, collected and sieved soil and have even built a security perimeter and new on-site accommodation for Chisomo.

The Kabaka community school project is generously funded by our corporate partner BGL Group.
