21 August 2020.
As well as building permanent hand washing stations for local schools, your generous support to our Safe Hands appeal means we can also provide some more immediate help to schools.
Our team has been busy delivering supplies to Shifwankula Primary and Secondary Schools, Moomba Primary and Secondary Schools and Muwanjuni Primary School. Many thanks to everyone for the very warm welcomes!
Washable face masks, hand soaps, sanitisers, disinfectant and no-contact thermometers were given out. Additional wash buckets and basins will help to provide some immediate improvement to hand wash facilities within the schools. Next week we will be distributing supplies to a further six schools in the local area.
Opened in 2006, Moomba Secondary Boarding School currently has 1064 pupils. The Deputy Headteacher Mrs Kate Mutale shared a few words:
“We wished to express our sincere gratitude for this very big gesture of donating items during this Covid pandemic. We wish to sincerely thank you and pray that God should bless you and that you continue doing this to other schools, particularly in the rural schools where these are very needed. And we can assure you that these will help fight Covid-19. Thank you so much.”

“I’m Judith Miyanda, Deputy Head Teacher at Shifwankula Secondary School. I want to say thank you – this gesture will go a long way… there are children who cannot even afford a face mask, families which cannot even afford a mask and we’ve been having a very big challenge on that but this will go a long way believe you me. You have done a good job. We thank you so much and may God richly bless you”
